Domino Data vs. Domino Content

Why the difference is important

Domino stores and manages information in two manifestations:  structured data and unstructured content.

Structured data can include information, such as dates, numbers and plain text, that typically resides in Domino fields. However, the majority of information in most Domino implementations is composed of unstructured "content," including:

  • rich text fields
  • embedded images
  • attachments
  • formatted output from Domino forms

For every data-driven Domino application database, consider how many more content-centric databases exist, from document libraries and team rooms to discussion forums and knowledge bases.

In the past, Domino integration was focused purely on marrying structured enterprise data into Domino's unstructured content world. Axceler's Notrix is the pioneer and leader in Domino data integration. Today, integration demands are shifting toward the need to tap Domino's unstructured content for use in specialized, content-driven enterprise applications. Lyrix meets these demands, providing the perfect complement to Notrix.
