Percussion Tools Introduces Lyrix 2 Content Integration Product for Lotus Domino

Lyrix 2 Extends the Value of Domino Content Enterprise-Wide; Includes Enhanced Support for Microsoft SharePoint and Bi-Directional Content Synchronization

STONEHAM, MA - March 8, 2004 — Percussion Tools, a leading developer of practical software solutions enabling customers to maximize the value and quality of enterprise content, today introduced version 2 of LyrixT, its popular Lotus Domino® content integration product. Lyrix 2 will be demonstrated at the AIIM 2004 trade show, March 8-10 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York, NY, Booth #1865.

Lyrix 2 allows organizations to preserve and gain increasing value from their investment in Lotus Domino by enabling direct, out-of-the-box reuse of Domino content throughout the enterprise. Based on a state-of-the-art Web services architecture, Lyrix 2 easily converts Domino content into formats accepted by J2EE and .NET applications. It is designed to play a key role in any organization's Domino content strategy, regardless of their current use or future plans for their Domino applications. Lyrix recently won Gold, the highest honor for innovation in the Data Integration category, in the 2004 LOTUS ADVISOREditors' Choice Awards. Version 2 will be available next month. New features include:

Bi-directional Synchronization Capabilities — enable users to submit content changes from target applications to Domino and to synchronize target and Domino applications ;

Enhanced Microsoft SharePoint Support — simplifies the dissemination of documents, including those stored in Domino, across the enterprise; and

Additional J2EE and .NET Sample Applications — help organizations take advantage of Lyrix capabilities immediately, as well as simplifying the creation of new applications .

"Since we brought Lyrix to market last fall, it's become clear that organizations have been looking for a Domino content integration solution like this - one that can play a key role in their Domino strategy, regardless of their current use or future plans for Domino ," said Barry Reynolds, president and CEO of Percussion Tools. "We've designed Lyrix to provide comprehensive options that enable organizations to choose the right future for each of their Domino applications, and Version 2 incorporates many of the enhancements most frequently requested by our user base ."

Lyrix 2 enables direct, out-of-the-box reuse of Domino content, in a wide variety of enterprise applications:

  • Portals: BEA WebLogic ® , IBM WebSphere ® , Microsoft SharePoint ®
  • Collaboration Platforms: Lotus Workplace ® , Microsoft SharePoint
  • Content Management Solutions: Percussion Rhythmyx
  • Enterprise Applications: Sales Force Automation, Customer Relationship Management, Document Management
  • Web-based Applications: J2EE or .NET

Lyrix 2 is based on a state-of-the-art Web services architecture that easily converts Domino content into formats accepted by other applications. It automatically transforms unique Domino attributes - Rich Text, embedded images, doc links, attachments, etc. - into standard XML and xHTML. Using Lyrix 2's visual mapping interface, developers define the pieces of Domino content required by external applications. Domino content can then be accessed directly in real-time via Content Services, or content can be transferred to external file systems and databases using scheduled Content Transfers.

Lyrix 2 gives organizations a practical way to set their own schedule for if, or when and how quickly they migrate from Domino. Business users can continue working with Domino as they always have, and in fact, organizations can choose a co-existence strategy by continuing to create content in Domino applications while simultaneously reusing the content in other enterprise applications. Lyrix 2 does not force an organization to port Domino applications to another platform, to migrate all Domino content to a new repository, or to settle for a Domino Web front-end that uses a non-standard Web development tool and often yields unsatisfactory results. By providing organizations with a comprehensive range of options, Lyrix 2 allows them to choose the right future for each of their Domino applications. It extends the useful life of Domino content with minimal impact and easily managed transitions.
