Percussion Introduces Domino Security Audit To Identify and Eliminate Domino Security Problems

Audit Provides a Single Unified View of a Domino Server Environment; Helps Administrators Make Significant Progress on Long-Term Compliance

WOBURN, MA — December 6, 2006 — Percussion, a leading developer of administration and development tools, today announced the availability of Domino Security Audit, a new security audit service package for Lotus Domino. This service enables Domino system administrators to better manage the security of an entire Domino environment, including servers, database, Domino directory, email and data security. By using the service to identify and eliminate security problems, administrators can take a significant step toward long-term compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley.

Percussion's Domino Security Audit includes:

  • A single, unified view of the entire Domino environment, from which administrators can detect security problems, isolate potential risks and assess security overall;
  • A customizable audit concentrating on the specific key issues of the customer's Domino environment;
  • Use of Percussion's award-winning ServerAdmin Plus software, the industry's leading Domino administration solution;
  • A choice of on-site or remote service by an expert Percussion Security Consultant;
  • A comprehensive security report that specifies where security problems have been found so they can be addressed immediately; and,
  • It does not require software to be installed on the Domino server or any server downtime.

"Domino is a mature environment and security can be very complex to manage and administer," said Percussion President Mike Alden. "With the native Domino tools it can be challenging to manage security settings, servers and databases. With the Domino Security Audit, we're giving administrators a tool to help bring it all together and the expertise to use that tool to detect and correct any Domino security problems to protect the organization and comply with regulations."

The Domino Security Audit from Percussion takes a top-down approach to analyzing the security of the Domino environment — starting with Server security and working down to the data level. Prior to the audit, system administrators can fully customize their service by selecting from a comprehensive list of security settings to investigate.

Security areas audited include:

  • Server Security — How secure are the organization's Domino Servers? Can they be accessed by the people that require access, and are they sufficiently locked down to all others?
  • Database Security — How secure are the organization's Domino databases and templates? Access Control Lists are a main focus, but analyzing database security also involves advanced database properties, User activity and Groups.
  • Directory Security — Ensures thatsecure ACLs are not circumvented by inappropriate access to crucial documents in the Domino Directory such as Groups, Person and Server documents.
  • Email Security — As an important means ofcommunication, collaboration and sharing of information, email is particularly vulnerable to security threats. The Percussion Security Audit investigates a wide range of possible problems.
  • Data Security — Security in Domino flows from the Server, to the databases, and down to the data level. Data security is a key part of a Domino security analysis.

The Domino Security Audit also includes limited-time use of Percussion's ServerAdmin Plus administration solution. ServerAdmin Plus has been recognized with industry honors from Lotus Advisor magazine in its Editor's Choice Awards in each of the past four years, winning for management administration in 2006 and for administration tools in 2005. In 2004, ServerAdmin Plus won the gold Editor's Choice Award for general administration, and in 2003, the product won the gold Editors' Choice Award for client management tools. Hundreds of specific security concerns can be addressed with ServerAdmin Plus, making it an ideal tool for supporting a comprehensive Domino Security Audit.
