The Business Challenge
Narvesen, a distribution company in Norway, was launching a new product and needed to make the registration of new sales, changes to existing customer orders, and canceling orders electronic and automated. The sales force is located all over the country, and do not have easy access to data about the customers, and which customer chain, branch and so on, the customer belongs to. This information along with the sales databases is stored in central computer systems and access to this information was not readily available.
Axceler Solution
Narvesen, working with a Axceler Business Partner, ID Comnet, chose to develop this application on Lotus Notes using Axceler Notrix to move the data from the AS/400 because their users were already familiar with this environment. Axceler Notrix was chosen because it provided a native driver to the AS/400.
The Result
Now at headquarters, the product managers can see how their products are selling on a daily basis. Plus the sales force can now get up-to-date information about what their customers are buying today, and best off all - what they have had earlier. Before the sales person visits their customer, they can get all necessary information about what the customer has, what they do not have, and their buying history. When the sales person comes home from the visits, they can register new orders, changes and terminations quickly and easily. According to Egil Bergli from ID Comnets, "Axceler Notrix is a very stable product. The application has been running for over a year, and we have never seen a problem caused by Notrix itself."
