Percussion ServerAdmin Plus V8.0 reduces the time and complexity to upgrade an entire enterprise to Lotus Notes and Domino 6 (ND 6) and R5. ServerAdmin Plus provides the most cost-effective and efficient way for organizations to upgrade Notes clients, applications and mail files to ND 6 as well as to streamline Domino servers, all from a central location. The new Client Manager module is an add-on that extends ServerAdmin Plus capabilities for end user clients, allowing administrators to upgrade end users without time consuming desktop visits. The Client Manager can be used in conjunction with the new Pro Manager ND 6 Upgrade projects to help you upgrade to Notes and Domino 6 in record time with fewer administration resources. Upgrade end user clients without desktop visits
The most time consuming part of any enterprise upgrade initiative is upgrading end users' client software. An upgrade can be especially difficult for companies with end users in geographically dispersed locations or with few available administrative resources. With its hands-off upgrade capabilities, Client Manager allows companies to upgrade end users' clients to Lotus Notes in no time, using fewer administrative resources. The Client Manager allows administrators, from their workstations, to customize and control an enterprise upgrade while monitoring end user progress. This saves legwork and provides a valuable repository for information about end users' clients and the progress of the client and mail file upgrade. The Client Manager provides you with everything necessary for a successful upgrade, allowing you to:
- Get the information you need to upgrade end users
Gather important information about your end users' machines. Identify end users who do not have the minimum system requirements for the upgrade or still run outdated operating systems. Using the Client Manager's audit, you can identify end user hardware and software configurations including the end user's operating system, current Notes client version, Notes client installation directory and available disk space. You can use this information to resolve workstation problems before you upgrade as well as to segment users and customize their installation.
- Segment your end users
Improve the management of your upgrade project by segmenting your end users. An administrator can control how and when to upgrade different users by segmenting users into groups based on specific characteristics (e.g., end user location, end user department, organizational unit, directory group, operating system, Notes version, etc.). The Client Manager provides this option to organize users into segments so that you can customize the installation options and the timing of your upgrade for these segments. For example, you can upgrade users who embrace new technology first, upgrade all Mac users, or upgrade all remote users at the same time. By segmenting users, the Client Manager allows you to reduce spikes in network traffic by upgrading end users in stages as opposed to all at once. Using this information, you can make informed choices to ensure success of your client upgrades.
- Enforce configuration standards and customize installation options
The Client Manager gives you the option and flexibility to customize end user installations. For instance, you can customize install directions to your different audiences. You can also customize the location of the appropriate network drive and/or CD location for users in a given segment to retrieve client software. By using a "silent install," you can eliminate end user installation errors caused by interaction with installation dialogs. The Client Manager allows you to customize and deploy standard installation response files for each end user segment.

- Choose how and when to upgrade mail files
The Client Manager offers many options for upgrading users' mail files. For instance, you can have the Client Manager upgrade mail files automatically after a user upgrades their client, schedule the mail file upgrade to happen only after all clients have been upgraded, or leave the choice of when to upgrade their mail file up to the end user.
- Track the progress of your upgrade
With continuous feedback about the status of every workstation, it is easy to track end user progress throughout the upgrade. After a department is upgraded, you can focus on upgrading applications pertinent to that department. This flexibility allows you to choose the option that best fits your environment.
Upgrade Databases and Server Settings

Once client upgrades are complete, ServerAdmin Plus allows you to run the ND 6 Upgrade projects from the Pro Manager to upgrade your applications and clean up obsolete Domino 6 server settings.
- Automatically update all database templates
ServerAdmin Plus searches across your environment for all databases that inherit from a standard template and updates the databases automatically. This project can update database types one at a time or all at once. Databases include "Discussion," "TeamRoom" and "Doc Library" database templates. You can also easily customize projects to update your company's internal templates.
- Eliminate obsolete Domino 6 server settings
ServerAdmin Plus searches all Domino 6 servers and removes obsolete settings from the NOTES.INI.
- Upgrade mail files
ServerAdmin Plus gives you the choice to automatically upgrade the design of end users' mail databases using a Pro Manager project. After users have upgraded their clients, administrators can choose to run or schedule the mail template upgrade using the Pro Manager
